What is Counselling?
Counselling is a way of responding to a wide range of human needs. Although the reasons, which bring people to counselling, are varied, generally feelings of distress, confusion, uncertainty, unhappiness and turmoil are present.
As a counsellor I will meet you with an open mind and a keen interest in what has brought you to this point in your life. I am committed to offering support and encouragement while you reflect on and explore whatever is causing pain and concern. It is often through the empathy and understanding offered by a counsellor that clients are finally able to hear their own voice.
My training and work is shaped by the values and attitudes of the person-centred approach and it is my belief that everyone has the potential required to make the differences in their lives and that counselling can help, without fear, judgment or criticism, enabling you to discover how to live in a more satisfying and resourceful way.
Counselling is not about giving you advice, instead through our work together you will discover a way to draw upon inner resources and find your own solution.
I believe the relationship which will develop between us will allow you to do this.
